Purple Door Arts and Musical Festival

08-16-2006 07:07

Celebrating 11th Annual Event

Featuring three stages of music, as well as an art gallery, skate park and paint ball, Purple Door announces the line-up for its 11th Annual Festival to be held August 18-19th at Ski Roundtop in Lewisberry, PA.

The premier alternative arts and music festival on the east coast, Purple Door boasts a lineup of nationally known artists, including Relient K, MuteMath, Thousand Foot Krutch, mewithoutyou, Denison Witmer, Cool Hand Luke, Joy Electric, Showbread, Paramore, Copeland and Emery. The two day event will also feature up-and-coming artists, such as Anathallo, August Burns Red, Last Tuesday and the Witalla Brothers, as well as a rare appearance from Christian music legends, The Choir. Speakers include Eric Simmons and Josh Finklea.

“We’re excited about this year’s event,” says Chris Strayer, Festival Administrator. “Purple Door is more than just a place for kids to hear their favorite band. We are heading into our second decade with a great line up of diverse styles, an opportunity for young bands to be discovered and an outlet for artists to share their talents.”

Sponsored by Mono vs Stereo, the New Band Showcase is back for Round two. Interested bands can submit a three song demo cd, along with a band bio for consideration and a panel of judges will choose the three top bands to perform on the New Band Showcase stage on the Friday night of the Festival. More information about the contest can be found here: .

A continuing tradition of the Festival, the event will also feature the Purple Door Art Gallery. Recognizing the calling of the Christ-inspired artist to demonstrate the subtle essence of Truth through the interpretation of humanity, environment, and spirit, The Gallery serves to encourage both young and emerging artists to use their talents as a careful, well-considered expression of this vision through various visual media, as the artist relates to the surrounding world at large. Awards for Best of Show, First, Second and Honorable Mentions will be presented Saturday afternoon.
